Actuary – Value Based Payments (Seattle Health)

Location: Based out of the hirify.global office in Seattle, Washington; in-office work is preferred, but remote candidates anywhere in the United States will be considered. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future immigration sponsorship.

Salary: $103,500–$242,650 annually, with ranges varying by state and experience.

What you will do

• Analyze healthcare data and interpret Medicare and Medicaid regulations.
• Build financial models for value-based payment arrangements, including shared savings, capitation, and provider risk models.
• Write reports that explain technical actuarial concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Manage consulting projects through completion within budget and develop client relationships.
• Lead and supervise actuarial students and less-experienced actuaries.
• Contribute to new business development with existing and prospective clients.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field.
• FSA designation and at least 7 years of healthcare actuarial experience.
• At least 4 years of consulting or advisory experience supporting health plans, state Medicaid agencies, or ACOs.
• At least 5 years of experience with value-based payment arrangements and 3 years leading Medicare and/or Medicaid VBP work.
• Proficiency with Excel and some knowledge of SAS, SQL, Python, or R.
• Strong understanding of the US healthcare system and ability to present complex concepts clearly.

Nice to have

• Experience with REACH/LEAD, MSSP, AHEAD, TEAM, managed Medicaid, or Medicare Advantage provider-risk programs.
• Entrepreneurial spirit and experience adapting data sources and methodologies to client problems.
