Scientific Officer - Metabolomics Core Facility (Metabolomics)

Location: Heidelberg, Germany; full-time position

What you will do

• Establish methods for identifying microbes with specific metabolic properties.
• Perform routine and industry-focused metabolomics analyses.
• Develop new protocols and analytical workflows.
• Analyse metabolomics data and discuss results with internal and external users.

Requirements

• Undergraduate or advanced degree in analytical sciences, chemistry, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least three years of hands-on experience in mass spectrometry or an analytical laboratory setting, preferably with LC-MS.
• Experience working with diverse sample types, including cells, bacteria, tissues, or biofluids.
• Experience analysing metabolomics results.
• Strong English communication skills are required.
• Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.

Nice to have

• Background in computational biology, coding, or data science.
• Experience in a service facility environment.
• Experience or interest in targeted or untargeted metabolomics data processing.
