Staff Software Development Engineer (DLP)

Base salary: $212,000–$265,000 USD per year

Cybersecurity company developing the Zero Trust Exchange, a cloud security platform for protecting users, devices, applications, and data.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow systems software engineers and principal architects working on high-performance Data Loss Prevention engines.
• Own the technical direction for line-rate pattern matching, regular expression evaluation, dictionary compilation, EDM, IDM, and distributed incident processing.
• Guide the evaluation and operationalization of NER and machine learning models under strict network latency, compute, and memory constraints.
• Architect multithreaded C daemons, shared memory structures, high-performance IPC, lockless concurrency, and memory-safe subsystems on FreeBSD and Linux.
• Lead production incident escalation, core dump analysis, system profiling, leak detection, incident streaming, forensic logging, and SIEM/SOAR integrations.

Requirements

• 8+ years of systems software engineering experience and 2+ years of leadership experience managing high-performing software teams.
• Advanced C programming skills on Linux or FreeBSD, with expertise in IPC, shared memory architectures, and POSIX concurrency primitives.
• Practical understanding of NER models and runtime limitations in high-throughput data paths.
• Expertise in production troubleshooting and root-cause analysis, including core dump analysis, GDB/LLDB, Valgrind, and eBPF or DTrace.
• Deep experience with DLP technologies, regex evaluation engines, dictionary compilers, EDM/IDM profiles, incident streaming, and forensics pipelines.
• Ability to work onsite in San Jose, California, USA.

Nice to have

• Experience optimizing AI/ML inference workloads using ONNX Runtime, TensorRT, or quantized NER models.
• Experience with inline network proxies, deep packet inspection, AVX instructions, or Hyperscan.
• FreeBSD kernel expertise, including jails, the network stack, VFS/ZFS, automated regression testing, and CI/CD for distributed systems.
• Experience using AI technologies to improve operational efficiency.
