Design Engineer, Substation

Location: Oakland, California; hybrid work from a remote office and an assigned location within the PG&E Service Territory. Travel required approximately 10% of the time.

Salary: $46.94–$78.14 per hour, subject to collectively bargained wage increases.

What you will do

• Coordinate studies, sketches, computations, and other complex project information for electric substation engineering and construction.
• Develop conceptual designs for equipment relocations, replacements, capacity additions, reliability improvements, and automation upgrades.
• Prepare AutoCAD drawings for indoor and outdoor substation equipment, including single-line diagrams, meter and relay diagrams, AC/DC schematics, control room layouts, grounding, conduits, and equipment arrangements.
• Prepare bills of materials, circuit and conduit schedules, reports, and presentations using Microsoft Office applications.
• Coordinate with civil, protection, and other engineering disciplines and conduct project design review meetings.
• Deliver high-quality design products safely, on budget, and on schedule.

Requirements

• BS in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and design drafting experience meeting the stated requirements.
• Valid Class C California Driver’s License or higher required by the first day of employment.
• Experience in electrical substation design using AutoCAD is preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook is preferred.
• PE or EIT certification is preferred.
