Engineer II - Design (PCIe/NVMe)

Location: Burnaby, Canada; on-site lab work required, with some remote investigation possible

Annual base salary: $76,000–$114,000

What you will do

• Develop and execute silicon and system validation plans for new and existing devices.
• Validate and debug PCIe switches, NVMe controllers, prototype ICs, boards, and hardware infrastructure.
• Diagnose complex hardware and software issues in post-silicon environments.
• Build and improve validation tools, supporting software, and test automation scripts.
• Lead complex test execution and investigations using laboratory equipment and protocol analyzers.
• Report defects and collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to isolate and resolve issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience; qualified new graduates may also be considered.
• Knowledge of software engineering principles and programming or scripting with Python, C, or similar languages.
• Strong understanding of digital systems, computer architecture, IC and SoC validation, and functional validation planning.
• Experience debugging prototype ICs, boards, and hardware infrastructure in a laboratory environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for cross-team collaboration and technical presentations.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of PCIe/CXL system architecture, NVMe storage interfaces, or I2C/I3C/SMBus.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, high-speed digital design, or board-level development.
• Experience testing and debugging high-speed SERDES.
• Knowledge of FPGA design tools and VHDL or Verilog.
• Experience assembling computer systems and working with Linux and Windows.
