TL;DR
Hardware Technical Program Manager (AI Hardware): Taking next-generation AI hardware from engineering builds through mass production with an accent on supplier qualification, manufacturing readiness, and factory execution. Focus on driving root-cause resolution, coordinating U.S.–Asia build operations, and managing ramp activities across contract manufacturers and suppliers.

Location: Based at the San Jose office or willing to relocate to the San Jose, California area; approximately 50% travel to vendor sites in Asia.

Salary: $200,000–$400,000 annual US base salary.

What you will do

  • Lead manufacturing operations across final assembly and subassembly sites.
  • Prepare and execute hardware builds with engineering teams and contract manufacturers.
  • Manage supplier, OEM, and contract manufacturer selection and qualification, including RFQs, SOWs, tooling, capacity, and recovery plans.
  • Coordinate fixture and test readiness, DOE plans, data capture, factory priorities, and escalations with the Asia-based program manager.
  • Drive factory root-cause investigations and closure through design, tooling, and process changes.
  • Track non-material costs, yields, and quality targets while communicating with engineers, executives, and external partners.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience as a technical or engineering program manager in consumer electronics hardware.
  • At least two products taken from architecture through mass production, plus hands-on NPI experience.
  • Technical depth in at least one hardware area: camera, display, enclosure and mechanical, battery, acoustics, or antenna.
  • Experience managing contract manufacturers and component suppliers, including selection, qualification, tooling, capacity planning, and schedules.
  • Knowledge of capability studies, Cp/Cpk, yield and defect Pareto analysis, DOEs, and gauge R&R.
  • Must be based in or willing to relocate to the San Jose, California area; comfortable working across the U.S.–Asia time gap and traveling internationally.

Nice to have

  • Experience with first-generation products such as wearables, foldables, new display or sensing technologies, or AI hardware.
  • Camera module NPI experience.
  • Experience with cosmetic-critical enclosures, finishing processes, glass, ceramics, or sapphire.
