Mechanical Engineering Intern (Fusion Energy)

Location: On-site in Everett, Washington, United States; full-time attendance required for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks during summer 2027.

What you will do

• Own and understand designs across electromagnetics, structures, fluids, thermal, and control-system subsystems.
• Learn from historical engineering approaches, design novel hardware, and test solutions.
• Identify and fix hardware issues on integrated fusion generators.
• Contribute to R&D efforts and explore system upgrades for next-generation machines.
• Apply engineering first-principles and method-based thinking to challenging problems.
• Learn from experienced engineers and expand technical and domain knowledge.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Graduation expected in Winter 2027 or Spring 2028.
• Available to work full time on-site in Everett, WA for at least 12 consecutive weeks during summer 2027.
• GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Hands-on exposure to multiple engineering disciplines, such as mechanical, electrical, or fluids engineering.
• Experience with 3D CAD software such as NX or SolidWorks and GD&T.
