Senior Back End Web Developer (Scala)

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain back-end services using Scala and the Akka Toolkit.
• Build and evolve CQRS and event-driven architecture components using functional, reactive, and actor-based programming.
• Develop and optimize queries and data access layers for PostgreSQL, Cassandra, and AWS Keyspaces using Slick or comparable ORM libraries.
• Build high-performance APIs handling complex JSON payloads and validate them with unit and integration tests.
• Develop Docker-based microservices and deploy them using Kubernetes.
• Manage source code, reviews, and planning in GitHub while collaborating with architects, front-end developers, and product owners in an Agile team.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional back-end development experience.
• Professional experience with Scala, Akka Toolkit, reactive programming, and actor-based concurrency.
• Experience with CQRS, event-driven architecture, SQL and NoSQL databases, and ORM libraries such as Slick.
• Experience building APIs with complex JSON payloads and writing unit and integration tests for end-to-end API responses.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub, and containerized microservices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with asynchronous Python methodologies or similar technologies.
• Experience with VueJS or ReactJS and open-source projects.
• Experience supporting CFPB or other federal financial regulators.
• Experience delivering solutions in a FISMA Moderate or comparable security-compliance environment.
