TL;DR
Senior Engineer, Manufacturing Process Integration (MPI) (HAMR): Scaling and integrating wafer processes and recording-head technologies from late-stage development into high-volume manufacturing with an accent on process manufacturability, throughput, and device performance. Focus on designing statistically valid experiments, troubleshooting manufacturing and product issues, and developing automation with Python, Power Automate, AI, and machine learning.

Location: On-site at hirify.global's Normandale campus in Bloomington/Edina, United States. Occasional travel to international manufacturing locations, up to 10%.

Salary: $94,140–$134,625 base annually.

What you will do

  • Scale new wafer processes and recording-head products from late-stage development into high-volume manufacturing.
  • Integrate reader and writer technologies, including HAMR, lasers, plasmonic transducers, electronic and magnetic elements, and thermal-management solutions.
  • Improve process manufacturability, throughput, device performance, and production readiness.
  • Design and execute experiments, analyze technical results, and present recommendations to cross-functional teams and management.
  • Troubleshoot material, manufacturing-process, and product-design issues across disciplines such as lithography, vacuum processing, plating, CMP, and metrology.
  • Develop automation solutions using Python, Microsoft Power Automate, and OCAP methodologies while applying AI, machine learning, and data science.

Requirements

  • bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, chemistry, materials science, or a related technical discipline with 5+ years of experience; or a master's degree with 3+ years; or a PhD with 0+ years; or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience applying Design of Experiments, statistical analysis, and statistical process control.
  • Ability to work in a cleanroom and occasionally support off-shift manufacturing issues.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work on-site at the Normandale campus in the United States.

Nice to have

  • Semiconductor or wafer-fabrication experience and/or data-storage product-development experience.
  • Experience with yield improvement, failure analysis, CAD applications, process integration, or generalist engineering.
  • Materials Science background.
  • Experience applying AI and machine-learning techniques to engineering challenges.
