Systems Engineer IV

Location: Santa Clara, California, United States; onsite five days per week. Travel required up to 20% of the time. Relocation is not eligible.

Salary: $161,000–$221,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead the technical execution of complex projects combining electrical, mechanical, controls, physics/process, and software engineering.
• Author engineering requirements, design specifications, system architectures, technology selections, and subsystem specifications.
• Develop system models and optimize the performance of systems and subsystems.
• Design, program, and test controls for I/O, safety interlocks, heating, motion, gas, vacuum, and related subsystems.
• Define test plans, perform verification and characterization testing, and resolve functional, performance, and reliability issues.
• Coordinate vendors and cross-functional teams while transferring designs to manufacturing and supporting initial production builds.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or related engineering.
• 7–10 years of experience in complex equipment systems engineering.
• Experience with requirements analysis, system architecture, modeling, integration, testing, and technical problem-solving.
• Ability to collaborate with electrical, mechanical, software, process, manufacturing, test, and supply-chain engineers.
• Ability to lead technical projects and communicate complex concepts across disciplines.
• Ability to work onsite in Santa Clara five days per week and travel up to 20%.

Nice to have

• Experience with semiconductor equipment and AC/DC power, cabling, heaters, actuators, motors, pneumatics, gases, vacuum, system I/O, workflow, and safety interlocks.
• Experience specifying, modeling, designing, building, testing, and releasing complex electro-mechanical equipment.
• Experience taking products from concept through development, verification, manufacturing introduction, and field deployment.
