Principal System Concepts Engineer (Systems Engineering)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States; onsite role associated with the Cambridge location.

Salary: $95,000–$245,000 per year base salary.

What you will do

• Elucidate mission needs and perform mission engineering for complex integrated hardware/software systems.
• Explore architecture and design trade spaces for systems and systems of systems.
• Conduct simulation-based performance analysis and apply analysis techniques across technical disciplines.
• Define architectures using digital engineering and model-based systems engineering frameworks.
• Identify program and system-level risks, then develop and execute mitigation strategies.
• Lead medium-sized teams of 5–10 people, brief results to leadership or government sponsors, and develop R&D proposals.

Requirements

• 7–10+ years of experience as a systems engineer or in a related role.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related field.
• Practical experience with systems engineering processes and simulation-based performance analysis.
• Strong oral and written communication, organization, planning, and time-management skills.
• Experience leading teams, managing technical risks, mentoring engineers, and developing engineering best practices.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or higher.
• Proficiency with modeling and simulation, coding, descriptive modeling such as SysML, STPA, or other engineering analysis tools.
• Knowledge of GN&C, avionics architectures, fault tolerance, cybersecurity, communications and encryption, or threat modeling.
