Access Team Lead (Healthcare)

Location: 251 E. Huron, Chicago, IL, United States; onsite day shift

Salary: $22.56–$32.72 per hour

What you will do

• Coordinate patient scheduling, registration, referrals, insurance verification, medical necessity checks, and pre-authorizations.
• Provide patients with information about appointments, financial accounts, out-of-pocket estimates, and referral requirements.
• Monitor queues, staffing coverage, service levels, quality metrics, and workflow performance.
• Serve as the first line of assistance for staff and resolve or escalate patient, technical, and operational issues.
• Support onboarding, training, staff education, system launches, audits, and performance feedback.
• Identify process improvements that strengthen data accuracy, customer service, and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• Minimum two years of customer service or patient relations experience.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written communication, problem-solving, organizational, analytical, and time-management skills.
• Basic computer skills, ability to type 40 words per minute, and ability to multitask.
• Ability to support staff, coordinate workflows, and handle escalated operational issues.
• Internal applicants must have received favorable annual performance reviews during the past one to two years.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree and healthcare finance or insurance knowledge.
• Experience in healthcare, patient scheduling, registration, revenue cycle, or hospital patient accounting systems.
• Medical terminology knowledge, coding certification, or Certified Healthcare Associate designation.
• Epic experience.
