Staff Engineer – Continuous Product Development

Location: Hybrid, with at least 3 days out of 5 per week onsite in Cheltenham, United Kingdom. Travel is required to support business needs.

Salary: Up to £62,000 base salary, subject to skills and experience, plus company bonus.

What you will do

• Lead cross-functional design engineering projects from problem definition and concept development through implementation and benefit realisation.
• Identify product and business improvement opportunities and lead self-started projects through to implementation.
• Own value engineering and lifecycle cost activities while maintaining product safety, compliance, and performance.
• Investigate technically complex product issues, identify root causes, assess risks, and implement sustainable changes.
• Act as the technical authority for the current product portfolio and support manufacturing, supplier, approval, and production issues.
• Provide technical leadership through design reviews, coaching, knowledge sharing, and engineering-method improvements.

Requirements

• Degree, apprenticeship, or equivalent professional qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.
• More than six years of engineering experience, including complex product or design changes in a regulated or quality-controlled environment.
• Experience leading design engineering projects from concept through detailed design, validation, and implementation.
• Proven use of structured root cause analysis, risk assessment, and validation planning.
• Experience producing and reviewing controlled engineering documentation and applying standards and approval constraints.
• Strong decision-making, prioritisation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in Continuous Product Development or a related product lifecycle environment.
• 3D and 2D CAD capability, preferably with Creo Parametric, plus design-for-manufacture and assembly knowledge.
• Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems and their interaction with mechanical product design.
• Experience with product approvals, supplier technical management, and formal engineering change processes.
