Manager 2, Software Engineering — Super App & Pluggable Architecture (Workforce Payroll)

Location: Mountain View, California, United States

Base pay: $244,000–$330,000 per year, plus potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Set the technical vision for a Super App platform and replace one-off integrations with reusable platform capabilities.
• Build a secure, sandboxed embedding runtime and versioned plugin contract for host applications and mini-app experiences.
• Establish federated identity and secure trust flows across hirify.global and Credit Karma.
• Lead platform execution across Workforce, TurboTax, Credit Karma, Identity, Risk, and Compliance.
• Build high-performing engineering teams and foster an inner-sourcing culture for partner plugin development.
• Improve engineering efficiency through processes, organizational structures, and tools.

Requirements

• 3+ years leading software engineering teams that delivered customer-driven products.
• 8–12 years of hands-on software development experience, preferably with AWS, Java, and modern web or mobile technologies.
• Experience building platform or ecosystem products such as SDKs, APIs, plugin frameworks, embedded widgets, multi-tenant services, or developer platforms.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, secure high-availability and low-latency services, identity, and security, including OAuth/OIDC, federated identity, token exchange, KYC, and cross-origin PII handling.
• Experience with Agile methodologies and SaaS technologies.
• Experience or understanding of AI models, LLM prompting, AutoML, and agentic patterns in customer-facing applications, plus a degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with fintech, regtech, money movement, RTP, FedNow, ACH, cards, crypto, stablecoins, or virtual currencies.
• Experience working with global teams, especially in the United States.
