Associate Director, AI Development Lead (AI)

Location: Remote/Home-Based for US-based candidates; Boston, MA

Salary: $153,600–$230,400 annual base pay for US-based candidates, plus potential bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and ship end-to-end machine learning solutions covering data ingestion, feature engineering, training, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
• Design and deliver generative AI solutions using RAG, agentic workflows, vector stores, and foundation model APIs.
• Write, review, debug, profile, and optimize production-quality AI code and secure, reusable architectures.
• Lead a small team of AI developers, set technical direction, review designs and code, mentor team members, and support hiring.
• Establish development standards, MLOps practices, evaluation frameworks, reusable components, and responsible AI controls.
• Advise business and technical stakeholders on use-case feasibility, vendor solutions, build-versus-buy decisions, governance, and enterprise AI strategy.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, and being accountable for technical work, including offshore or nearshore development teams.
• Hands-on experience delivering ML and GenAI solutions to production and designing AI/ML architectures.
• Strong knowledge of machine learning algorithms, statistical modeling, model evaluation, deployment, LLMs, RAG, fine-tuning, agentic patterns, evaluation, and guardrails.
• Proficiency in Python or R and frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Significant experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure; AWS or GCP is preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in a quantitative or technical field and 5–7 years of relevant experience; 10+ years is preferred.

• Experience in pharmaceutical, life sciences, or another regulated industry.
• Experience evaluating and integrating third-party AI/ML solutions and vendor platforms.
• Advanced degree or equivalent practical experience.
