Account Executive Officer/Senior Underwriter, Inland Marine

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States; regular in-person meetings with agents and brokers and travel required.

Salary: $109,300–$180,200 annual base salary, plus potential performance-based cash incentives.

What you will do

• Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned inland marine book of business.
• Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
• Build relationships with agents, brokers, and internal partners to market products and develop sales plans.
• Identify new business and cross-selling opportunities using consultative sales skills.
• Develop agency and regional sales plans with the Managing Director.
• Support training and mentoring for less experienced Account Executives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience, including inland marine experience.
• At least four years of experience in underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial, sales, product, or finance.
• Deep knowledge of inland marine products, regulations, and the local insurance market.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, negotiation, and risk analysis skills.
• CPCU designation.
