Commercial Lines Underwriter

Location: Lake Elmo, Minnesota, United States. Hybrid arrangement with initial in-person training and potential work-from-home time based on job responsibilities and leadership approval.

Salary: $57,000–$80,800 annualized starting base pay, plus potential bonus opportunities.

What you will do

• Learn insurance coverages, contracts, company procedures, policies, manuals, forms, and endorsements.
• Make underwriting decisions based on applicable coverage information and company guidelines.
• Analyze loss experience, financial conditions, and physical characteristics of commercial risks.
• Build working knowledge of supporting underwriting department functions.
• Communicate with independent agents and internal employees in writing and verbally.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Ability to organize data, multitask, and make independent decisions.
• Above-average written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to resolve complex issues.
• Interest in developing insurance product knowledge through approved educational programs.
• Must be able to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
