Avionics Test Engineer I (Space Systems): Developing and executing test programs for space flight hardware and electrical systems with an accent on acceptance, qualification, proto-flight, and automated testing. Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite at hirify.global’s headquarters

Base salary: $68,000–$93,500 USD annually. Total compensation including equity: $74,950–$105,525 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Develop test plans and programs for space flight hardware and systems.
  • Manage and conduct acceptance, qualification, and proto-flight test programs.
  • Develop automated test hardware, test platforms, data acquisition systems, and instrumentation.
  • Support the design of space flight hardware with emphasis on design for testability and manufacturability.
  • Analyze COTS component test levels against mission environmental test requirements.
  • Contribute to engineering, test, manufacturing, and change-management processes and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another technical discipline.
  • Experience with hardware development or electronics test engineering.
  • Understanding of electrical test equipment, test procedures, data acquisition systems, and instrumentation.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
  • Ability to work in production areas with prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and computer work, plus occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust, and fumes.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in software, computer, electrical, aerospace, mechanical, or another engineering discipline.
  • Knowledge of satellite subsystem interactions and whole-vehicle operation.
  • Programming experience in Python.
  • Experience designing hardware from concept through production.
  • Experience with vibration, shock, thermal, TVAC, spacecraft, or hardware production environments.
