Paralegal - Team 9 (Insurance Defence Litigation)

What you will do

• Support qualified Solicitors and experienced litigated file handlers with insurance defence litigation caseloads.
• Progress discovery matters by drafting pleadings and reviewing discoverable material.
• Conduct legal research, review case law and procedural requirements, and assist with witness statements and investigations.
• Analyze quantum evidence, including hospital records, GP notes, medico-legal reports, chronologies, and anomalies, to support reserve calculations.
• Prepare trials by compiling trial bundles and helping clients and witnesses prepare to testify.
• Instruct Counsel and medico-legal experts, manage daily priorities and deadlines, maintain service levels, and keep case-management and financial records accurate.

Requirements

• Law degree.
• No previous experience is necessary; the role is suitable for graduates and experienced paralegals.
• Excellent listening, verbal, written communication, research, analytical, and IT skills.
• Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, work under pressure, and achieve agreed targets.
• Ability to manage caseloads, maintain service-level agreements, and adapt communication to different stakeholders.
• Ability to work in a hybrid role based in Belfast, United Kingdom.
