2027 Software Engineering Intern (AI/ML)

Location: San Diego, El Segundo, Folsom, Long Beach, California; Reno, Nevada; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; or Houston, Texas. In-person orientation, program kickoff, and final presentation travel are required.

Hourly pay: $23.50–$30.00 per hour, depending on academic year, major, business line, and geography.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, maintain, integrate, and debug software for assigned projects.
• Contribute to software features, tools, services, applications, automation, APIs, and data systems.
• Work with existing codebases, databases, development tools, and software systems.
• Develop test cases and validate functionality against defined requirements.
• Document technical designs, implementation approaches, testing activities, and integration steps.
• Collaborate with software, systems, engineering, and other cross-functional teams through code reviews and technical discussions.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited university, preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Understanding of fundamental software engineering and programming concepts, with proficiency in at least one programming language.
• Familiarity with software development principles, APIs, databases, or related technologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, communication, organization, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively and learn new programming languages, technologies, tools, and development environments.
• Must meet U.S. Government export-control eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship, U.S. lawful permanent residence, protected individual status, or eligibility to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Nice to have

• Previous internship, coursework, academic project, or other software engineering experience.
• Experience developing applications, services, scripts, or automation tools.
• Familiarity with Git, cloud technologies, software frameworks, APIs, databases, testing, debugging, or CI/CD practices.
• Exposure to AI/ML, data processing, embedded software, or other specialized technologies.
