Seasonal Boiler Operator (Chicago)

Location: Onsite at the Chicago Terminal in Chicago, Illinois. The role requires rotating shifts in a 24/7 operation, overtime as needed, and mandatory outdoor work in extreme weather conditions.

Pay: USD $41.98 per hour

What you will do

• Operate industrial 500 HP fire tube and 1000 HP water tube boilers.
• Test feed water and condensate chemical levels and manage water softener, de-aerator, and storage tank systems.
• Operate and test fire pumps, air compressors, plant air systems, emergency generators, electrical systems, and boiler feed water pumps.
• Complete daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance checks and monitor equipment during shifts.
• Record meter readings and monitor gauges, charts, boiler house equipment, and operating processes.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of industrial boiler operations experience, including fire tube and water tube boilers, valves, and pumps.
• City of Chicago Stationary Engineer license required.
• Mechanical aptitude, hand-tool proficiency, basic computer skills, mathematical skills, and the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, at heights over 60 feet, on stairs and uneven surfaces, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, standard PPE compliance, and successful background, physical, drug, and validated skills testing.
• TWIC credential and membership in Local 399 union are required.
