Cost Engineering Analyst III (Automotive)

Location: Detroit, Michigan, United States. Hybrid schedule with 4 days per week in the office and 1 day remote; must live within a reasonable commuting distance. Up to 10% domestic and international travel is required. Relocation assistance is not available.

Salary: $144,419 annual salary.

What you will do

• Lead cost planning structures and establish bottom-up target costs using Reference Calculation methods.
• Maintain detailed knowledge of parts, technologies, materials, and production processes within scope.
• Support cost avoidance and reduction activities using global cost engineering methodology and Siemens calculation software.
• Identify gaps between pricing, purchasing, and engineering, then coordinate actions and track progress.
• Support supplier negotiations, collaborate with Engineering on cost-effective designs, and create project cost targets.
• Benchmark complex powertrain parts, conduct tear-downs and cost-driver analyses, and represent Cost Engineering in cross-functional project meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
• 10 years of experience in the automotive and/or heavy truck industry.
• At least 3 years of experience in Cost Engineering.
• At least 1 year of group leader, project lead, or mentoring experience.
• Experience with manufacturing process optimization and Siemens calculation software for cost calculations.
