Engineer Powertrain - R&D

Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States; onsite Monday through Thursday with the option to work remotely on Friday. Domestic and international travel of up to 25% is required during periodic and peak periods.

What you will do

• Design driveline components for conventional, hybrid, and electrified powertrains.
• Create validated 3D models, 2D drawings, and supplier specification sheets.
• Lead design reviews and demonstrate that responsible parts meet functional and performance targets.
• Develop countermeasures for cost, mass, durability, strength, quality, and warranty gaps.
• Coordinate with suppliers, purchasing, vehicle design groups, manufacturing plants, and hirify.global Japan.
• Support supplier trials, product launches, root-cause investigations, and improvements to design processes and driveline quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• At least 3 years of automotive design or development experience; co-op and internship experience may be considered.
• Detailed knowledge of transfer case design, evaluation, and specification setting.
• Experience with CAD tools, GD&T, component drawing release, and supplier specification sheets.
• Knowledge of automotive manufacturing methods, including castings, forgings, machining, thermoplastics, and rubber molding.
• Must already have the right to work in the United States and must not require hirify.global immigration support or visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with driveline or powertrain assemblies.
• Knowledge of propeller shafts, driveshafts, differentials, Catia, FEA, vehicle NVH, or vehicle simulations.
• Working knowledge of DRBFM, quality management, and supply chain management principles.
• Experience with Excel and PowerPoint, hirify.global TBP, or supplier and manufacturing collaboration.
