Sr. Manager, Software Engineering (AI)

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; at least 3 days per week in the office. The role requires 5–10% travel and is performed in an office setting.

Salary: $163,300–$261,600 USD per year, with potential bonus and equity eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead and grow engineering teams building scalable, resilient, secure distributed systems and payment platforms.
• Set technical strategy across cloud-native architectures, APIs, microservices, event-driven systems, AI platforms, and mission-critical applications.
• Champion AI-first engineering practices using Generative AI, LLMs, AI agents, Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, and AI-powered SDLC automation.
• Oversee architecture, platform modernization, MLOps, AI infrastructure, resiliency, security, compliance, observability, and governance initiatives.
• Partner with product, business, security, infrastructure, and executive stakeholders to define roadmaps and deliver transformational initiatives.
• Establish engineering standards, KPIs, delivery frameworks, and talent development practices across multiple teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree, or 11+ years of relevant experience without the degree.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including 3+ years leading engineering teams.
• Experience building large-scale transaction processing, e-commerce, fintech, payments, or highly regulated platforms.
• Deep knowledge of Generative AI, LLM operations, prompt engineering, RAG, vector databases, AI agents, and AI orchestration.
• Experience with distributed systems, cloud platforms, APIs, microservices, testing, architecture reviews, and technical documentation.
• Experience with AI-assisted development platforms such as Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot, and Cursor.

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
