Adaptive Sports Snowsport Instructor (Adaptive Skiing): Delivering one-on-one ski instruction and individualized lessons for students with disabilities across multiple adaptive snowsport disciplines with an accent on safety, assessment, equipment, and progress tracking. Focus on planning adaptive lessons, operating specialized equipment, supporting participant transfers, and managing risk during in-person programming.

Location: Primary responsibility in Ketchum, Idaho; moderate travel within and outside Idaho may be required.

Salary: $17–$25 per hour, based on experience.

What you will do

  • Provide one-on-one adaptive ski instruction for students with disabilities and varied abilities.
  • Complete student assessments, establish individualized goals, plan lessons, and document progress.
  • Develop competency in 2-track, 3-track, and 4-track alpine skiing, slider, blind and low-vision guiding, bi-ski, and mono-ski disciplines.
  • Inspect adaptive equipment, identify maintenance needs, and communicate operational issues.
  • Apply safety and risk-management procedures throughout lessons and programming.
  • Drive program vehicles, assist with events and meetings, and support training for other adaptive instructors.

Requirements

  • Ski or snowboard experience is required; prior adaptive sports experience is not necessary.
  • Availability for 35–40 hours per week, five days per week, including one consistent weekend day.
  • Ability to lift and handle equipment weighing 50–75 pounds and assist participants with transfers into adaptive equipment.
  • Willingness to travel to selected PSIA/AASI certification or recertification events and organizational activities.
  • Ability to participate in mandatory adaptive snowsports training, staff meetings, and fundraising events.

Nice to have

  • Prior coaching or teaching experience.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
  • PSIA or AASI certification.
  • Behavior Management Certification.
