What you will do

  • Lead multiple complex environmental health and safety areas and teams across the institution.
  • Develop and implement safety strategies, operational systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage institution-wide hazard assessments, inspections, event investigations, and risk-mitigation measures.
  • Oversee compliance programs for federal, state, and local regulations and accreditation standards including AAALAC, CAP, and DNV.
  • Collaborate with Design and Construction and Facilities Operations to address safety requirements in new construction projects.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop EHS personnel while managing budgets, vendors, resources, and departmental reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field such as science, health physics, chemistry, physics, engineering, industrial hygiene, or nursing.
  • 10+ years of experience in a relevant safety area or related scientific discipline.
  • Experience managing mid-sized to large teams and leading large-scale programs through implementation.
  • Experience with EHS program management, operational management, budget planning, and vendor and resource management.
  • Experience building external connections with safety communities, peers, and vendor networks.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is required.

Nice to have

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of experience in EHS program management.
