IT Specialist

Location: Onsite in Chicago, Illinois, United States; support is provided in a 24/7 live news environment, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Salary: $30–$38 per hour, commensurate with experience and skill level.

What you will do

• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows, macOS, and Linux systems across news, creative services, and other departments.
• Support Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Creative Cloud, and related plug-ins.
• Manage news production servers, content storage, playout servers, graphics systems, editing systems, and RAID-based broadcast infrastructure.
• Configure and troubleshoot IP networks, including 10Gbps+ links and geographically distributed systems.
• Install and manage routers and switches in collaboration with Corporate IT.
• Support local and remote users and perform system backups and restorations in a mission-critical broadcast environment.

Requirements

• Degree in Information Technology or a related field preferred; equivalent experience is considered.
• Experience with IT systems, Active Directory, server administration, and networking.
• Strong communication, organization, customer-support, and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to prioritize urgent issues and work effectively under pressure in a live broadcast setting.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, perform occasional climbing, kneeling, and crawling, and safely operate company vehicles; a valid driver’s license is required.
