Telecom Technician (SCADA)

Location: Midland, Texas; onsite field work with approximately 70% outdoor work, required travel, callouts, and unscheduled overtime.

What you will do

• Install and maintain microwave radios, industrial wireless systems, SCADA communication systems, VSAT, phone systems, digital multiplexers, LAN/WAN networks, VHF radio systems, and related equipment.
• Diagnose telecommunications issues, isolate outages, and restore services, including support for emergency operations.
• Document outages, installations, and repairs in a ticketing system.
• Coordinate with employees, management, vendors, customers, and field operations.
• Plan daily work, operate with limited supervision, and respond during working and non-working hours when required.
• Travel to company assets using an assigned company vehicle while maintaining safety and service standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma required; an associate degree in Electronics Technology is preferred. Four years of active electronics or telecommunications experience may substitute for the degree.
• Direct telecommunications experience is required; at least three years is needed for Level II Technician and higher.
• Strong telecommunications diagnostics, analytical reasoning, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Visio.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record required for travel.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds regularly and work outdoors, travel, respond to callouts, and work non-traditional hours.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of digital microwave communications, digital multiplexers, terminal servers, LAN/WAN networks, routers, and data acquisition systems.
• Cisco CCNA, Cisco IP Telephony, Nortel, NABER two-way radio, NICET, or FCC certifications.
• Ability to obtain or retain a TWIC credential if required for the position.
