Safety and Health Trainer (Construction)

Location: Westerville, Ohio, United States; on-site safety training is required, including work in a high-production environment with 50+ hour weeks, nights, and weekends as needed.

What you will do

• Develop, modify, and deliver safety education, training correspondence, manuals, presentations, Safety Talks, guides, and handouts.
• Conduct new-hire onboarding, drug-testing coordination, Workday information collection, and company- and site-specific safety orientations.
• Manage in-person, online, and blended safety training programs using interactive, video, and hands-on teaching methods.
• Collaborate with Safety leadership, operations managers, and subject matter experts to create specialized content and incorporate risk-mitigation strategies.
• Evaluate learning outcomes, collect feedback, maintain attendance and certification records, and prepare reports on training effectiveness.
• Use multimedia, Microsoft Office, online learning platforms, and reporting tools to improve training communications and delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in safety and health, or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
• Three to 10+ years of safety and health experience in the construction industry preferred.
• Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, state and federal safety regulations, and company safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to manage safety programs independently, prioritize tasks, maintain detailed records, and work under pressure and deadlines.
• Strong writing, communication, presentation, interpersonal, organizational, and administrative skills.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.

Nice to have

• CPR/First Aid certification.
• OSHA 30-Hour and 10-Hour Trainer certification.
• GSP, ASP, CSP, or CHST designation.
• Subject matter expertise in two or more elements of a safety and health management system.
