Software Engineer - Backend (Fintech)

Location: Bristol, UK; hybrid working with at least two days per week or 40% of working time at the Bristol office

Salary: £63,152–£78,940 per year

What you will do

• Develop backend services for personalized products and digital banking experiences for Mass Affluent customers.
• Design and refine system architecture for reliable and scalable applications.
• Integrate external services using SOAP, REST, and GraphQL.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases, cloud platforms, Kubernetes, and Linux.
• Contribute to continuous integration and test automation.

Requirements

• Backend development experience with Java 8+ and the Spring ecosystem.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or comparable public cloud technologies.
• Knowledge of SQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL, and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and Cassandra.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Linux, Gradle or Maven, and backend integration technologies.
• Exposure to test automation, including BDD, Playwright, Cyprus, or COESF.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed and scalable applications, RESTful services, or web UI development.
• Knowledge of Kotlin, iOS, Android, Flutter, Rust, Hibernate ORM, Quarkus, Python, Go, or big data and ML technologies.
• Understanding of networking principles and Linux system administration tools.
