Scientist I – Material-Biomimetic Membrane Scientist

Location: Onsite, Cambridge, United Kingdom

Base salary: GBP 25,400–38,200 per year, plus eligible variable cash programs and potential equity.

What you will do

• Design and execute experiments for next-generation sequencing and array technologies.
• Develop materials, surface chemistry, biomimetic membrane systems, and biological assay applications.
• Generate, evaluate, and mature technologies from early-stage research through product development.
• Analyse experimental data, troubleshoot technical challenges, communicate findings, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary global teams, including regular communication with US-based colleagues and occasional international travel.
• Adopt new scientific methodologies and technologies in a fast-paced research environment.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Molecular Science, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
• Strong experimental skills and excellent communication abilities.
• Ability to solve complex scientific challenges and learn new techniques and methodologies.
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary and global teams.
• Ability to work onsite in Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Nice to have

• Experience with lipidic or biomimetic membrane systems.
• Exposure to biological assays, surface chemistry, materials characterisation, or polymer-based technologies.
