Research Associate in Materials Chemistry

What you will do

• Conduct original individual and collaborative research on polymer membranes, molecular transport, and related materials chemistry.
• Develop ultra-thin polymer-based membranes and fluidic chips using polymers of intrinsic porosity.
• Study molecular and ionic permeation for ionic gating, ionic memory, and molecular separation applications.
• Develop research objectives and proposals with support from a mentor where required.
• Write scientific reports and academic papers for publication.
• Communicate complex research findings orally, in writing, and electronically while collaborating internationally.

Requirements

• PhD, or be close to completing one, in synthetic chemistry, polymer science, membranes, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related field.
• Strong publication record in internationally peer-reviewed journals and experience contributing to research papers and scientific reports.
• Experience with electrochemical measurements, electrical source meters, precision electrical meters, patch-clamp amplifiers, or neuromorphic measurements.
• Significant experience in nanofabrication, measurement and characterization of ultrathin membranes, or 2D materials and van der Waals heterostructures.
• Familiarity with common laboratory techniques, general analytical tools, and handling ultrathin membranes or nanofabrication methods.
• High-level English communication skills, both written and oral, are required.

Nice to have

• Expertise in electrochemistry.
• Experience in nanofluidics or membrane technologies.
• Experience with clean-room micro- and nanofabrication and 2D materials devices.
• Experience with sequencing measurements involving biomolecules.
