TL;DR
2027 Electrical Engineer Intern (Aerospace): Supporting electrical design, development, testing, documentation, and troubleshooting for mission-critical defense and space technology projects with an accent on circuit development, component selection, engineering data, and cross-functional collaboration. Focus on creating schematics and technical artifacts, analyzing test results, and solving practical electrical engineering problems alongside experienced engineers.

Location: San Diego, CA; Houston, TX; Long Beach, CA; or Pittsburgh, PA. The 10-week internship runs from June 7, 2027, to August 13, 2027, and includes in-person orientation, program kickoff, and a final presentation.

Hourly pay: $27.00–$37.00 per hour, depending on academic year, major, line of business, and geography.

What you will do

  • Support electrical design, development, analysis, testing, troubleshooting, and evaluation activities.
  • Create, review, and maintain schematics, drawings, models, documentation, component libraries, and technical databases.
  • Research and select components and support engineering parts, bills of materials, and technical documentation.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze engineering data and test results.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, systems, software, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Complete assigned engineering projects, participate in reviews and training, and contribute process-improvement ideas.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program at an accredited university, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Understanding of fundamental electrical engineering principles and strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn and apply new engineering tools, processes, and methodologies.
  • Ability to travel for in-person orientation, program kickoff, and the final program presentation.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain the authorizations required under U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including ITAR.

Nice to have

  • Previous electrical engineering internship, coursework, academic project, laboratory, or other relevant experience.
  • Experience with circuit design, schematic capture, PCB design, electrical testing, or troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with Altium, MATLAB, LTspice, or similar electrical engineering tools.
  • Experience with engineering drawings, component libraries, bills of materials, technical documentation, laboratory equipment, or prototyping.
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary engineering projects and cross-functional development environments.
