Co-op, Neurodevelopmental Biology Research (Biotechnology)

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts, United States; full-time, on-site 6-month student role from January to June 2027.

Base compensation: $23.00–$29.00 per hour

What you will do

• Support exploratory research focused on therapeutic strategies for disease-relevant RNA transcripts and target identification.
• Design, execute, troubleshoot, and analyze molecular and cell-based experiments with scientists.
• Perform qPCR, ddPCR, gel electrophoresis, western blotting, protein assays, and related molecular biology techniques.
• Maintain mammalian cell cultures and perform plasmid transfection or viral transduction in human iPSC-derived neurons and established cell lines.
• Conduct immunostaining, fluorescence microscopy, quantitative image analysis, co-localization analysis, and morphological assessments.
• Prepare documented datasets, figures, and summaries to inform ongoing research projects.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or a related program.
• Currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, community college, skills program, or apprenticeship.
• Strong background in cell biology, genomics, and proteomics with hands-on wet-lab experience.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
• Must be at least 18 years old before the scheduled start date.
• Ability to perform a full-time co-op from January through June 2027.

Nice to have

• Experience with standard or capillary western blotting.
• Experience with immunofluorescent cell-based assays and functional cellular assays such as multi-electrode array recording.
• Experience with data analysis and visualization using GraphPad Prism.
