Fuel Cell Development Engineer (Hydrogen Energy Systems)

Location: Érd, Hungary; hybrid working model with up to 60% home office

hirify.global Hungary Kft. is a powertrain research and development center working on automotive and other mobility technologies across planning, simulation, testing, software development, calibration, and production planning.

What you will do

• Define system and subsystem requirements, functional architectures, layouts, and operating strategies for fuel cell and hydrogen energy systems.
• Develop process concepts, Process Flow Diagrams, functional P&IDs, and heat and mass balances.
• Model and simulate electrochemical energy systems using 0D/1D methods to support design, performance assessment, and optimization.
• Derive component requirements and evaluate supplier data for fuel cell stacks, balance-of-plant components, and process systems.
• Support system integration, industrial plant engineering, verification, validation, and analysis of test data.
• Participate in design reviews, HAZOP and FMEA activities, integration workshops, customer discussions, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in process, mechanical, chemical, energy, mechatronics, or a comparable technical field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, process engineering, plant engineering, industrial energy systems, or related areas.
• Experience with industrial process plants, hydrogen technologies, fuel cells, electrolyzers, power generation systems, or similarly complex technical systems.
• Familiarity with PFDs, P&IDs, heat and mass balance calculations, and process design methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Professional proficiency in English is required; willingness to travel internationally for project activities is expected.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of requirements engineering, system architecture, functional integration, and verification planning.
• Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, hirify.global CRUISE M, or equivalent modelling software.
• German language skills.
