Cost and Sustainability Engineer, Mechanical

Location: Budapest, Hungary; full-time remote work globally may be available for positions that can be performed outside a hirify.global or customer location. Travel of up to 20% may be required, including domestic and international travel.

Annual gross base salary: Ft 11,709,000–Ft 17,173,200.

What you will do

• Build cost and life-cycle CO2e assessment models for components, modules, and assemblies used in automotive products.
• Establish Design-to-Cost targets, CO2e reduction targets, and component-level cost and CO2e references.
• Review supplier quotations, analyze cost breakdowns, and identify the factors influencing component costs.
• Develop cost and CO2e modeling solutions, analytics, and supporting cost engineering infrastructure.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product Sourcing, Procurement, Manufacturing, Customer Account Management, and suppliers during quoting and target-costing activities.
• Drive supplier scouting, benchmarking, purchased-part relocation, category strategies, and sustainable cost-reduction solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• At least 6 years of experience in cost engineering, value analysis/value engineering, mechanical or electronic component engineering, automotive procurement, or advanced manufacturing engineering.
• Experience with complex components, modules, assemblies, and factors that improve CO2e performance.
• Ability to break down component costs, solve complex technical topics, influence stakeholders, and review the work of other cost engineers.
• Experience supporting procurement teams in supplier negotiations and working in results-focused environments.
• Fluent English required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in engineering.
• At least 2 years of experience developing cost models for components, modules, or assemblies.
• Experience with automotive electronic systems and selecting or recommending automotive-grade components.
• Experience in data analytics and sharing engineering knowledge and best practices.
