Vice President, Core Product Management (Biotechnology)

Location: San Diego, California, United States

Base salary: $278,800–$418,200 per year, plus eligible variable cash compensation and equity.

What you will do

• Define the global product strategy, vision, roadmap, investment priorities, and lifecycle plans for a biotechnology product portfolio.
• Translate customer workflows, market intelligence, competitive dynamics, and emerging science into differentiated product priorities.
• Lead cross-functional execution with R&D, Engineering, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Operations, Commercial, Finance, and regional teams.
• Own product-level business performance, including revenue growth, margins, adoption, retention, portfolio health, and market share.
• Drive launch readiness, positioning, pricing, forecasting, customer training, sales enablement, and regional execution.
• Lead, develop, and scale a high-performing Product Management organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, biotechnology, molecular biology, genomics, engineering, chemistry, bioinformatics, business, or a related field.
• Typically 15–20 years of progressive experience in product management, portfolio management, general management, commercial strategy, or related leadership roles in biotechnology, life sciences, diagnostics, medical technology, genomics, biopharma, or adjacent regulated industries.
• At least 10 years of people leadership experience, including leadership of senior product managers or cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated success leading complex product portfolios across multiple lifecycle stages and translating customer insights into measurable business outcomes.
• Experience partnering across R&D, Commercial, Regulatory, Quality, Operations, Finance, and regional teams in a matrixed environment.
• Strong executive presence, communication, strategic judgment, and ability to influence senior stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience in genomics, sequencing, diagnostics, proteomics, multiomics, clinical workflows, bioinformatics, life sciences instrumentation, assays, software, or integrated workflow solutions.
• Experience with global product portfolios, research-use-only products, and clinical or regulated environments.
• Familiarity with FDA, IVDR, CLIA/CAP, ISO, or other relevant regulatory and quality frameworks.
• Experience with business transformation, acquisition integration, portfolio rationalization, or product management operating model development.
