Founding Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; in-person, 6 days per week. Schedule: 10 AM–9 PM on weekdays and 12 PM–7 PM on the sixth day.

Salary: $170K–$250K annually plus 0.5%–1.5% equity.

What you will do

• Build and scale production AI agents across voice, SMS, and email.
• Design systems that preserve context and consistency across multi-channel interactions.
• Develop full-stack product experiences, internal tools, APIs, and custom adapters.
• Build scheduling, workflow orchestration, and infrastructure for LLM-powered applications.
• Improve agent state, memory, personalization, and reasoning.
• Own features from problem definition through design, implementation, deployment, troubleshooting, and iteration.

Requirements

• 1–6 years of software engineering experience and strong software engineering fundamentals.
• Strong TypeScript and Python skills with full-stack development experience.
• Experience shipping production software and owning projects or systems end to end.
• Ability to make sound technical decisions with limited direction and solve ambiguous technical problems.
• Willingness to work in person in San Francisco 6 days per week.
• Comfort working in a demanding, fast-paced startup environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI agents, production LLM applications, LLM orchestration, voice AI, or conversational AI.
• Experience with complex API integrations, legacy systems, scheduling, or workflow systems.
• AWS, Next.js, high-volume communication platforms, or regulated-industry experience.
• Early-stage or founding startup experience, open-source work, or significant personal projects.
