Plate Structures Designer (Steel Detailing)

Location: Plainfield, Illinois, United States; work is based in the Plate Structures Engineering Office and may include temporary assignments to project sites.

Salary: USD $66,226–$79,471 annually

What you will do

• Produce detail drawings for customer approval, fabrication, and construction using applicable design codes, company standards, and customer specifications.
• Create drawings and bills of material for plate structures, foundations, structural systems, and associated piping.
• Check details for safe field erection and constructability.
• Compare drawings and bills of material with as-sold estimates and report discrepancies to the project team.
• Use CAD, drawing-generation programs, document-management systems, and collaboration tools.
• Estimate task duration, commit to deadlines, and communicate progress to the project team.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of relevant experience.
• High school diploma plus at least one year of post-high-school education, or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in 2D and/or 3D CAD, including MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of steel detailing practices and applicable industry conventions.
• Skills in geometry, trigonometry, unit conversions, quantity take-offs, and basic bills of material.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Associate degree or two-year technical degree.
• Knowledge of hirify.global products and markets.
• Experience working in complex, fast-paced, production-oriented environments.
