TL;DR
Senior Equipment Technician (Biotechnology): Installing, maintaining, calibrating, and repairing capital and manufacturing equipment at an onsite life sciences facility with an accent on complex equipment troubleshooting, metrology, clean-room systems, and building utilities. Focus on coordinating vendors and maintenance projects, managing equipment documentation and calibration schedules, and training other technicians.

Location: Onsite in St. Paul, Minnesota, United States; standard business hours with occasional evenings, weekends, off-site travel, and participation in an on-call rotation.

Salary: $27.20–$37.40 per hour.

What you will do

  • Install, inspect, maintain, repair, and calibrate capital and manufacturing equipment, including high-complexity systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs in clean rooms, including work on HVAC, plumbing, electrical components, lighting, and building systems.
  • Coordinate steam plant operations, complex equipment repairs, vendors, procurement, contracts, and facilities projects.
  • Manage equipment records, calibration and maintenance schedules, work orders, SOPs, work instructions, and non-conformance reports.
  • Support the Building Automation System and identify and implement department process improvements.
  • Train and mentor Equipment Technicians and Advanced Equipment Technicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 5–8 years of relevant experience, or an associate’s degree preferred with 3–5 years of relevant experience.
  • Required experience with boilers or steam systems and material handling equipment; a Class 2B Minnesota Boilers License or Special Engineer qualification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of complex equipment troubleshooting, metrology, hand and power tools, building utilities, clean-room HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and waste treatment.
  • Ability to work in clean rooms, confined spaces, and outdoor environments, lift up to 50 pounds, and operate ladders and material handling equipment safely.
  • Strong problem-solving, prioritization, communication, computer, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Must have work authorization in the United States that does not now or in the future require visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

  • Prior clean-room or biotechnology equipment experience.
  • HVAC, plumbing, or electrical licenses.
  • Associate’s degree and relevant technical certifications.
