System Administrator (Linux/Windows — Engineering Labs) (Aerospace IT): Supporting and securing Windows and Linux systems and wired and wireless lab networks for NASA Johnson Space Center engineering environments with an accent on system health, security updates, troubleshooting, and user support. Focus on administering Red Hat-based Linux and Windows systems, monitoring infrastructure, resolving complex lab issues, and maintaining reliable networks for crewed spaceflight analysis.
Location: Onsite at Clear Lake, 2101 E NASA Pkwy, Houston, TX 77058, USA, supporting NASA Johnson Space Center engineering labs.

What you will do
- Administer Windows and Linux systems across multiple engineering laboratories.
- Manage and help design wired and wireless networks for individual labs.
- Investigate system problems, monitor system health, and complete security updates and upgrades.
- Support lab users with IT issues so engineering analysis can continue.
- Collaborate with other system administrators and follow or develop operational best practices.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience administering Linux systems; experience with any Linux distribution is acceptable.
- Experience supporting Windows 10 or later.
- At least 1 year of experience in an IT-related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related area, or equivalent practical experience.
- Problem-solving, task-planning, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government background investigation is required for most federal contractor positions.
Nice to have
- Experience with Red Hat-based systems such as RHEL, Rocky, Alma, or CentOS.
- IT service desk support and wired or wireless network configuration experience.
- Configuration management, monitoring, alerting, log consolidation, or Git/GitLab experience.
- Familiarity with the Johnson Space Center campus network.
- Knowledge of NASA or federal security mechanisms, including ATOs, POA&Ms, security plans, and risk assessments.
