System Maintenance Technician II (Linux/Unix)

Location: 100% on-site at the Philadelphia Information Technology Center, 5000 Wissahickon Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19144, United States. Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM EST.

What you will do

• Maintain Linux/Unix servers by checking filesystem capacity, analyzing files and directory sizes, and performing system diagnostics.
• Interpret infrastructure alerts, system-health conditions, and performance anomalies using monitoring tools.
• Plan and perform preventive and emergent maintenance while maintaining accurate maintenance logs.
• Replace and validate hardware components including memory, CPUs, disk drives, motherboards, expansion cards, and power supplies.
• Monitor RAID and enterprise storage, troubleshoot disk health issues, validate SMART status, and replace disks when required.
• Coordinate vendor field-engineer visits, validate systems after warranty maintenance, and update service tickets.

Requirements

• AA or two-year technical school degree plus 3+ years of relevant work experience, or 7 years of additional relevant experience in place of education.
• Practical Linux/Unix server-maintenance command proficiency.
• Ability to pass a Tier 2/Moderate Background Investigation.
• Ability to work 100% on-site in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Monday-Friday during EST business hours.
• Experience or training with enterprise server hardware, storage, monitoring, maintenance, or vendor coordination is relevant to the role.

• Experience with SolarWinds, ScienceLogic, Splunk, SNMP, BigFix, QRadar, EnCase, Puppet, IPMI, iLO, or iDRAC.
• RAID, Red Hat Satellite, BigFix, Ansible, Puppet, ServiceNow, or CMDB training.
• CompTIA Server+, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Linux+, RHCSA, or Oracle Solaris Administration certification or training.
• Dell, HPE, Oracle, enterprise server hardware, or out-of-band management training.
