Process Controls Engineer (DCS/PLC)

Location: Hybrid work based in the Baton Rouge / Geismar, Louisiana area, United States; approximately 5% travel outside the region may be required.

What you will do

• Provide process control systems engineering support for production facilities in the Baton Rouge / Geismar region.
• Support daily operation, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and improvement of DCS, SIS, and PLC automation systems.
• Implement changes to control logic, HMI systems, databases, instrumentation, and technical documentation.
• Plan control-system lifecycle activities, including programming, preventive maintenance, upgrades, migrations, and obsolescence management.
• Improve plant safety, reliability, cybersecurity, operability, and cost efficiency while supporting capital projects and production initiatives.
• Work with process controls engineers, plant engineers, area managers, supervisors, operators, technicians, vendors, and site personnel.

Requirements

• Degree in chemical, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
• 10+ years of experience with process automation systems and/or instrumentation engineering.
• Hands-on knowledge of DCS and PLC control systems; Siemens PCS7 or ABB 800xA experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of field instrumentation, including valves, transmitters, and level, temperature, pressure, and flow measurement.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and access to a reliable personal vehicle.
• Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.

• Foundational knowledge of computer networks and industrial control system cybersecurity.
• Knowledge of safety instrumented systems and mechanical integrity.
• Strong communication skills and experience presenting complex topics to customers, vendors, management, and site personnel.
