Data Governance Analyst

Location: London, United Kingdom. Flexible working can be discussed at the offer stage, but no specific remote or hybrid arrangement is stated.

Salary: £36,000–£42,000 per year, plus a £5,441 London Weighting Allowance.

What you will do

• Develop, implement, and continuously improve data governance frameworks, standards, and best practices across data domains.
• Establish data ownership and accountability models with domain owners and senior stakeholders using the Alation data catalogue.
• Provide practical guidance on data governance and data quality queries across a complex organisational structure.
• Promote governance practices through education, metadata guidance, data-management documentation, and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with platform and technical teams to embed governance principles into data systems, applications, and infrastructure.
• Support daily governance operations, including query routing and collaboration with third-party vendors.

Requirements

• Experience in data governance within a large or complex organisation, supported by data analyst experience or equivalent.
• Experience developing or implementing data domain structures, ownership models, and accountability frameworks.
• Strong knowledge of data management, governance standards, metadata management, and data quality principles.
• Excellent influencing, relationship-building, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with business, technical, governance, senior stakeholder, and third-party vendor groups.

Nice to have

• Experience with complex datasets, big-data environments, SQL, or data visualisation tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
• Experience with data catalogues such as Alation or Collibra.
• Experience with cloud data warehouses or platforms such as Snowflake or GCP.
• Knowledge of data quality metrics, measures, and monitoring approaches.
