Design Lead, Credit Cards (Fintech)

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 per year, plus equity

What you will do

• Lead and develop a small team of designers through regular critique, feedback, and coaching.
• Own end-to-end creative execution for co-branded credit card programs from initial brief through final production.
• Translate partner briefs into card designs, program toolkits, and visual systems aligned with brand identity, voice, tone, and program promises.
• Present creative options to clients and stakeholders, explain design rationale, and incorporate partner feedback.
• Build production-ready mechanicals for credit card manufacturing and coordinate with printers during production milestones, including press checks.
• Connect card design with digital wallet, mobile app, and broader brand contexts while maintaining quality and consistency across programs.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in brand or print design with a strong portfolio showing end-to-end ownership of design projects.
• Experience leading, mentoring, or managing designers and developing their skills.
• Ability to present and defend creative work to clients or stakeholders across multiple options.
• Strong understanding of commercial print production and preparation of mechanicals.
• Program-level understanding of how individual design assets connect to broader brand systems.
• Clear communication skills and comfort working with external partners in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Nice to have

• Experience with credit card or financial product design and card manufacturing specifications.
• Familiarity with digital wallet and mobile app design contexts.
• Experience building creative toolkits, brand systems, co-branded programs, or licensed design programs.
• Previous experience as a design lead or manager of a small team.
