Financial Compute Analyst (AI)

Location: San Mateo, United States; hybrid

Salary: $135,000–$150,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Support the monthly close for compute cost of revenue by preparing journal entries, accruals, prepaid amortization, true-ups, and supporting schedules.
• Reconcile GPU utilization data with cloud provider invoices, contracted capacity, and the general ledger; investigate billing discrepancies and idle capacity.
• Maintain prepaid cloud balance schedules and support accounting for committed spend, reimbursements, revenue share, service credits, and third-party capacity arrangements.
• Evaluate accounting treatment for vendor agreements, including COGS versus operating expense, gross versus net presentation, embedded leases under ASC 842, and liability classification.
• Partner with Data and Analytics teams to validate cost and utilization pipelines, improve data quality, and automate accounting processes and reporting.
• Prepare technical accounting support and audit materials, including cost schedules, contract samples, allocation support, and responses to auditor inquiries.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3–6 years of relevant accounting or finance experience, including cost accounting or cost of revenue experience.
• Knowledge of cost allocation, direct cost attribution, and overhead allocation across cost centers or product lines.
• Experience working with large datasets and reconciling information across multiple systems.
• Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills; SQL or data warehouse experience is beneficial.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and attention-to-detail skills, with the ability to translate accounting requirements for non-accounting stakeholders.

Nice to have

• CPA certification or active CPA candidacy.
• Experience with cloud computing, AI infrastructure, SaaS, or usage-based business models.
• Experience evaluating vendor contracts and committed purchase arrangements.
• Experience with NetSuite or another major ERP system, including allocation schedules and amortization.
