TL;DR
Training Officer (Refugee Services): Developing and delivering training, technical assistance, and learning resources for U.S. refugee and newcomer service providers with an accent on culturally responsive, client-centered, trauma-informed programming. Focus on managing training projects, coordinating subject matter experts, and evaluating outcomes across webinars, e-learning, multimedia resources, and communities of practice.

Location: Remote within the United States, with Phoenix, Arizona listed as the location; domestic travel of up to 20% is required.

Salary: $80,000–$85,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Develop and deliver webinars, self-paced courses, e-learning, online certificate courses, and in-person training on refugee and newcomer services.
  • Provide consultation, technical assistance, guidance, and resources to refugee service providers across the United States.
  • Create written and multimedia learning resources, including guides, toolkits, e-learning modules, videos, podcasts, and blog posts.
  • Coordinate a monthly community of practice focused on emerging needs in refugee and newcomer services.
  • Contribute to annual training and technical assistance workplans, manage project schedules and budgets, and coordinate external subject matter experts.
  • Track training outputs and outcomes, analyze participant feedback, and contribute to monthly and semi-annual reports.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field, such as social work, or equivalent experience.
  • At least six years of direct service experience with refugees or other ORR-eligible populations.
  • Experience delivering training or technical assistance to build the capacity of refugee service providers.
  • Experience providing client-centered, trauma-informed, and strength-based services, including pre- and post-arrival support.
  • Strong communication, public speaking, organization, project management, collaboration, and technology skills.
  • Fluent written and spoken English required.

Nice to have

  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Master of Social Work qualification.
  • Experience in refugee and newcomer education services.
  • Lived experience with forced displacement or a shared background with newcomer populations.
  • Experience managing consultants, contributing to monitoring and evaluation, or working with evidence-based programming.
