Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Identity Decisioning)

Location: Remote within the United States. Most roles can be performed remotely within the country of employment; occasional in-person work and onboarding may be required.

Base pay: $230,000–$290,000 for CA, WA, NY, NJ, and CT; $204,000–$264,000 for all other U.S. states.

What you will do

• Set the team’s technical strategy over a year-long horizon and connect it to business-critical projects.
• Collaborate with product management, design, analytics, and engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes that increase team effectiveness.
• Own service operations and availability, including monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, alerting, and on-call readiness.
• Establish code review and design standards, promote quality through technical writing and talks, and develop engineers through feedback and guidance.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with Python or Kotlin and highly available distributed systems.
• Experience with AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
• Ability to define technical and execution plans for major features, system components, or deprecations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration with a global engineering team.
• Equivalent practical experience or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
