Staff+ Software Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA; New York City, NY; or Seattle, WA. Hybrid work is required, with staff expected to be in one of the offices at least 25% of the time.

Annual salary: $320,000–$485,000 USD.

What you will do

• Build identity verification and vetting systems using KYC/KYB workflows for individual and business customers.
• Design access-control systems that grant, scope, and revoke access to advanced AI capabilities based on approved use cases.
• Build per-customer safety configuration, monitoring, misuse detection, and enforcement tooling.
• Identify account compromise and takeover, apply real-time mitigations, and support full remediation.
• Develop dashboards, alerting, and internal administration tools that provide visibility into access-program health and outcomes.
• Integrate third-party identity verification and data-enrichment vendors while partnering with policy, enforcement, threat intelligence, product, research, and go-to-market teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or comparable experience.
• Experience building and operating backend systems in production.
• Strong coding skills in at least one general-purpose programming language.
• Experience building software with AI coding tools.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Care about the societal impact of AI and making powerful systems safer.

Nice to have

• 8+ years of industry software engineering experience.
• Experience building shared platforms or foundational services used by multiple teams and products.
• Experience with identity, authentication, authorization, KYC/KYB, trust and safety, fraud, abuse detection, or account-takeover response at scale.
• Experience partnering with operational teams to build custom internal tooling.
