Senior Accountant - US Government (GovCon)

Location: Remote, must be US-based; full-time availability required from 9:00am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday. Travel to the head office in Vancouver, Canada may be required as frequently as once per month.

Base salary: $130,000–$160,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Own full-cycle accounting operations for the US Defense and Intelligence business, including journal entries, reconciliations, AP, AR, payroll accruals, and month-end close.
• Prepare US GAAP financial statements, cash-flow files, variance analyses, working papers, and supporting schedules.
• Maintain government-contract accounting infrastructure, including indirect rate structures, cost pools, cost allowability, and DCAA audit readiness.
• Lead FAR, DFARS, and CAS compliance activities, including cost-type contract financials and classified program cost reporting.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, tax filings, audits, billing, contract pricing, and labor-rate calculations.
• Improve accounting processes, systems, controls, and reporting while acting as the sole contributor for the US market.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• CPA designation required.
• 10+ years of experience, including full-cycle accounting in private high-technology organizations and public practice.
• Experience with government-contract accounting, indirect rates, FAR cost principles, and DCAA exposure.
• Knowledge of US GAAP, GovCon accounting systems such as Unanet or Deltek Costpoint, ERP systems, and advanced Excel.
• Must be US-based and available full time during standard business hours; ability to handle classified information and CUI in accordance with US Government requirements.

• Graduate education or certifications supporting government-contracting expertise.
• Experience with Sage, NetSuite, Databasics, Ramp, Expensify, or comparable accounting tools.
• Experience using Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT for Business, Claude, or comparable AI productivity tools.
